Shanghai Cooperation Organization
I was reading about, what Foreign Policy Magazine, dubs the League of Authoritarian Gentlemen and how they are working together to snuff out 'terrorism' in Asia. Sounds good on paper, right? After all, The United States has tried to fight a global war against it, while the United Nations condemns any targeting of civilians.
This League is officially known as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and is comprised of Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Their definition of 'terrorism' includes any acts that undermine the authoritarian control of the current dictators, including what may be known as "free speech" in the West. By sharing information, they can capture any "terrorist" cross-border activities. The real purpose here is to stifle any democratic activity.
This is why "terrorism" is a useless word. It is not descriptive enough to describe what should and should not be targeted. The real goal of the US is to rid the world of Islamic religious extremists, which is not politically correct to come out and say it. The real goal of the SCO is to maintain their dictatorships, which is also not politically correct to say. Both call their targets "terrorists".
It is easy to forget that over 1/3 of the global population still lives under authoritarian rule.
